Possible Shooting Prompts School Lockdown In Banning

Banning Police received multiple reports of a shooting after 1 p.m. Thursday.

BANNING, CA -- Police said reports of a possible shooting prompted a brief school lockdown Thursday in Banning. Officers received multiple calls of a shooting at Roosevelt Williams Park around 1:09 p.m., police said.

Multiple officers were immediately dispatched to the scene where they found evidence of a shooting, police said.

The report prompted about a 20-minute lockdown at nearby Hoffer Elementary School, police said.

There were no victims or suspects identified, and there was no damage to the school, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
