RivCo Smoke Advisory Extended Due To Apple Fire

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A smoke advisory was extended until Monday afternoon due to the Apple Fire burning north of Cherry Valley, the South Coast Air Quality Management District announced Sunday.

The fire produced less smoke Sunday afternoon and was predicted to produce little smoke during the next few days as fire activity decreases and firefighters continue to build control lines, according to an AQMD statement.

Still, meteorological conditions could bring smoke and ash into portions of the Coachella Valley, the San Gorgonio Pass, eastern Riverside County and the eastern San Bernardino Mountains, the agency said.

It is possible that air quality levels become unhealthy for sensitive groups in areas of direct smoke impacts, according to the AQMD.

The air quality district urged anyone who smells smoke or sees ash to limit exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed or to seek alternate shelter, and avoid vigorous physical activity.
