Robbery Suspect Shot, Killed By RivCo Deputies During Warrant Service
A shootout ensued, and when the gunfire stopped deputies went inside the residence and found the man dead, the sheriff's department said.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A man wanted in connection with a series of armed robberies in Riverside County was shot and killed by deputies Wednesday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced.
The incident began around 3:48 a.m. when Riverside County sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve a search warrant at a residence in Colton's 900 block of North Vista Way.
"Deputies arrived on the scene and made announcements instructing the occupants of the residence to exit," the sheriff's department said.

A female exited and was detained without incident but the man remained inside and started shooting at deputies, according to the law enforcement agency.

"A firearm was located near the suspect," according to the sheriff's department.
No other injuries were reported.
The suspect’s identity was withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
There was no word on whether the female was arrested.
"The involved deputy will be placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy. An investigator from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, Specialized Investigative Division, will lead this investigation" into the shooting, Riverside County officials said.
