MORENO VALLEY, CA — A armed carjacking in Moreno Valley early Thursday morning was apparently concocted by juveniles.

At approximately 2:07 a.m., sheriff's deputies were called about a carjacking at a park in the 23000 block of Presidio Hills Drive.

The victim said he met a girl there that he knew and while both were in the back seat of his vehicle, two armed masked males opened each rear car door and ordered the victim out, according to the sheriff's department.

About two hours after the incident, the Riverside Police Department spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it.

The driver failed to yield and a chase began.

The driver ended up crashing at the intersection of Kansas Avenue and Third Street in Riverside. Four juveniles — three males and a female, whom the victim identified as the girl he met in the park — were in the vehicle, the sheriff's department reported.

Also in the vehicle were two black masks, a black toy pistol, and one black 9mm pistol, according to the sheriff's department.

The juveniles were arrested and transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. When medically cleared, they were transported and booked into juvenile hall, the sheriff's department reported. Their identities were not released due to their age.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700 or dispatch at 951-776-1099.
