Smoke Advisory Issued In Some Parts Of RivCo Due To Line Fire

RIVERSIDE, CA — The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a wildfire smoke advisory in some parts of Riverside County Sunday due to the Line fire in San Bernardino County, which has burned more than 40,200 acres and was 83% contained.

The advisory was effective from 3 p.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. Monday and included the San Gorgonio Pass, Jurupa Valley, Beaumont and surrounding areas.

"Calm winds in the South Coast Air basin are expected to cause smoke to impact Highland, San Bernardino, Redlands, Yucaipa, Beaumont and surrounding areas, with AQI reaching the 'unhealthy for sensitive groups' or higher category," the SCAQMD announced.

Anyone in the area impacted by smoke was advised by the SCAQMD to limit exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed or seeking alternate shelter. The public was also advised to avoid vigorous physical activity and to run air conditioning and/or an air purifier.

"If possible, do not use swamp coolers or whole house fans that bring in outside air," the SCAQMD advised.

The SCAQMD said a properly fit N95 or P100 respirator may provide some protection for those who must be outside in affected areas.
