Toddler Nearly Drowns in Palm Desert Pool

A terrifying experience for family members as CPR is administered to the young child.

A toddler nearly drowned in a Palm Desert pool Thursday evening.

Firefighters were called about 6:40 p.m. to a report of a person found in the pool of a home in the 73000 block of Juniper Street, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Someone began administering CPR to the child prior to firefighters’ arrival, Newman said.

The toddler was breathing, conscious and alert when taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Newman said.
