Traffic Advisory: Semi Carrying Tall Load Smashes Into SR-60 Overpass

BEAUMONT, CA — Traffic on westbound state Route 60 was backed up to the Beaumont area Thursday afternoon after a semi-truck carrying a tall load crashed into a freeway overpass.

According to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol, the mishap was reported at approximately 1:12 p.m. near Theodore Street.

The rig was hauling tall heavy equipment that hit the overpass when the trucker drove under it. Concrete debris was strewn across the freeway, according to the preliminary report.

A SigAlert was in effect and all westbound lanes were temporarily closed. As of 1:46 p.m., the CHP reported it was releasing traffic.

There were no immediate reports of injury.
