RIVERSIDE, CA — Mountain and desert areas could see scattered monsoonal thunderstorms again Saturday before the moisture gives way to hot and dry temperatures into next week.
The National Weather Service said the highest chance of showers will be in the afternoon and evening hours.
Forecasters said Saturday's highs will reach 106 degrees in Thermal and Palm Springs, 99 degrees in Lake Elsinore, 98 degrees in Hemet, 96 degrees in Riverside, 90 degrees in Anza and 83 degrees in Idyllwild.

Forecasters said a high pressure system will push the monsoonal moisture to the east on Sunday, drying out the atmosphere.
Temperatures early next week are expected to be 110 to 113 degrees in the lower deserts and around 98 to 102 degrees in the Inland Empire and high desert areas.
