Woman In Critical Condition After Being Hit By RivCo Driver

The woman had just entered a crosswalk when she was hit by a Toyota.

BANNING, CA — A woman was in critical condition Wednesday after she was struck by a vehicle while walking in Riverside, authorities said.

Police received notice of the collision at 1:10 p.m. and were sent to the area of Arlington Avenue and Ben Lomand Way, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Riverside Police and Fire personnel located a woman who sustained major injuries at the scene. She was taken to Riverside Community Hospital and was in critical condition, police said.

Police say the 25-year-old driver of a 2005 Toyota, Corolla was traveling eastbound on Arlington Avenue when the car collided with the woman who had entered the crosswalk, according to the department.

Police said the driver remained on the scene and was cooperative during the investigation. The driver was not injured and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.
