11-Year-Old All Stars Come Close, but Fall to Pacifica

Two BRSLL teams played in District 52 championship games Wednesday night.

It was a historic night for Belmont-Redwood Shores Little League: two teams of all stars playing for District 52 titles--the 12-year-old team facing Redwood City East, and the 11-year-olds taking on the mighty Pacifica American team.

While the older boys were able to finish off their opponents with an 11-4 win at Belmont's Marina field, the 11-year-olds came oh-so-close to victory, going 8 innings before losing 3-2 to Pacifica at Redwood City's Red Morton Park.

Team parent Greg Snow summed up the valiant effort by the young players," So many ways that game could have gone another way, but the bottom line is that the boys went the full game plus two extra innings before the 3-2 8th inning loss in the championship vs. Pacifica American.

Losing to a team that won District 52, Section 3, and went all the way to the state championship game last year means that our boys competed at the highest levels and earned a lot of respect."
