Belmont City Council Appoints Julia Mates To Vacant Seat
Julia Mates, who has lived in the city for 12 years will, fill the seat.

BELMONT, CA -- The Belmont City Council this week appointed a new member to its vacant seat. Julia Mates will fill the seat left vacant when Councilman Eric Reed died in December.
Mates, who was one of four people to apply for the seat, will serve in the seat until its term ends in November this year.
Mates has served on the Belmont Planning Commission since 2015, and most recently as its chair. She has lived in Belmont for 12 years.

City leaders said her familiarity with the newly adopted planning documents will be an asset to the Council as it moves into the implementation phase of those plans.
“Julia will bring her understanding of Belmont's neighborhoods, planning issues, and its history to the City Council," Mayor Douglas Kim said . "I look forward to her contributions that will help us all serve the public's interests.”
