It's a Dirty Job, But Somebody's Gotta Do It
The city's public works crews recently cleared out over 6.5 miles of sewer lines.
The Belmont Public Works Department's sewer maintenance crew was busy last month cleaning up and clearing out the city’s sewer lines. May documented the second highest month in 2013 for sewer jetting totals, boasting 34,794 feet of sewer line cleaning. That’s over 6 ½ miles of sewer mainline cleared of potential blockages.
Sewer jetting (cleaning) is done by use of high pressure water through a nozzle. The nozzle is fed through the sewer line, clearing away roots, grease, buildup and other foreign matter that may create blockages.
