Traffic Alert: Construction Begins on El Camino Real from Belmont to RWC

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be working on State Route 82 (El Camino Real) this week through Friday.

Work will take place in both the northbound and southbound directions in Redwood City between Whipple Avenue and Harbor Boulevard between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Crews will be trenching to install conduits as part of the Smart Corridor Project that began in September, 2012.

This project will have additional closures as the project moves from Whipple Avenue in Redwood City to State Route 380 in San Bruno. Completion is anticipated by September, 2013.

Two lanes in each direction will remain open to traffic.

Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to use alternate routes. Please also be alert for workers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
