Twin Pines Senior & Community Center to Get Facelift

The project will include new carpet, paint, roofing and new furniture.

It's open bid season for the upcoming remodel project at Twin Pines Senior & Community Center. Earlier this week, contractors began surveying the project in preparation for submitting their bids to make major improvements on the center.

Ten contractors showed up to the mandatory meeting this week, with the bid opening scheduled for July 31st. According to the City Manager's Weekly Upate, the work is expected to start on October 7, 2013 and continue through the rest of the calendar year.

The project will address a host of deferred maintenance issues at the facility including interior and exterior painting, new carpet, new floor tiles, new furniture, and repair of the clay tiles on the roof. At an estimated cost of $134,900, 81 percent will be funded by grants and donations.

City manager Greg Scoles says the project is a tribute to the community that
has been created through 25 years of programs and activities in the Twin Pines Senior & Community Center.
