Jelly Woo aims to turn each evening into a raise-your-beer, shake-your-rear extravaganza. Six Los Angeles musicians, several L.A. Times scribes among them, will spend this year barnstorming Southern California with a new slate of original material. The songs include a carnal celebration of Frogtown, an actual L.A. neighborhood, and a surprisingly tender ode to chicken bones. The new material is, as always, topped with an unlikely mix of power ballads and other choices from the party vault – a tradition that Woo Nation now demands at every show.
Jelly Woo features Tom Lauder, the bass phenom Nate Jackson, Scott Gold and others, hit the 562 at 9 p.m. at Harvelle’s, 235 E. Broadway. Come on out and join Woo Nation. The Vespertines will follow.
