1 Dead In Benicia Crash

The Benicia crash was one of two deadly Solano County wrecks on Monday night.

BENICIA, CA — Two separate collisions in Solano County on Monday evening resulted in fatalities, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The first collision was reported to CHP at 4:10 p.m., when a grey Hyundai Elantra struck a pole near Rockville and Russell roads, west of Fairfield.

The driver suffered major injuries and the passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A second solo collision was reported around 7:22 p.m. on eastbound Interstate Highway 780 near the East 2nd Street off-ramp in Benicia.

A silver Honda van went off the road and into the trees, according to CHP. One person was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both collisions are under investigation, according to CHP.
