Authorities ID Driver Killed In Vallejo Crash

The fatal collision was reported around 8:15 p.m. Friday, police said.

VALLEJO, CA — The Solano County coroner's office has identified a driver who died after a collision Friday night as Jorge Macaraeg Lindayen, 70, of Vallejo. The collision was reported around 8:15 p.m. on Sonoma Boulevard north of Lewis Brown Drive, police Lt. Michael Nichelini said.

Lindayen was driving a 2000 Saturn SL1 north on Sonoma Boulevard when he crossed the center median into the path of a 1999 Dodge Durango in the southbound lane of Sonoma Boulevard, Nichelini said.

Lindayen was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later, and the 41-year-old Vallejo woman who was driving the Dodge suffered minor injuries and complained of pain, according to Nichelini.

The collision is under investigation but speed does not appear to be a factor, Nichelini said.
