Benicia Couple Suspected In Fairfield Shooting: Police
A couple arrested for marijuana sales and child cruelty are also suspected of a shooting last month on Air Base Parkway, police say.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Fairfield police arrested two Benicia residents Tuesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and child cruelty. Monique Chatman, 29, and Lamont James, 33, are also suspected of
being involved with a shooting into a vehicle on Air Base Parkway near Interstate Highway 80 on Jan. 6, police said.
A Fairfield SWAT team found large quantities of marijuana inside an apartment in the 100 block of Rankin Way in Benicia Tuesday morning and a firearm in the two residents' vehicle, police said.
The marijuana was stored in areas of the apartment that were easily accessible to two children ages 2 and 9, police said.

Chatman and James were arrested and booked in the Solano County jail for possessing marijuana for sale, child cruelty and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle. James also was booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, police said.
Police learned James and a male in a Honda who was shot last month on Air Base Parkway knew each other. The shooting victim also was in possession of a firearm at the time of the shooting, and charges against him
may be forthcoming, police said.

The driver of the Honda lost control causing a collision that injured other people, police said.
