DUI, Driver's License Checkpoint Planned In Solano County

The California Highway Patrol Solano Area announced it will hold a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint Friday night.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A DUI checkpoint is planned Friday night somewhere in Solano County, the California Highway Patrol announced.

The sobriety and driver's license checkpoint is scheduled to be held from 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, until 1 a.m. Saturday, March 29, within Solano County.

The location of the checkpoint will be announced two hours before it starts, pursuant to a California Supreme Court ruling, the CHP Solano Area said.

"The goal of the CHP is to ensure the safe passage of each motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers," CHP Officer Garrett Pumphrey said. "A sobriety and driver license checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations."

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
