House Fire In Benicia Kills Dog; Two Still Missing
Firefighters responded to a smoke alarm on Casey Court about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. They arrived to find heavy smoke and called for backup.

BENICIA - One dog has died and two others are missing after a Saturday night house fire in Benicia.
At approximately 7:24 p.m., the Benicia Fire Department responded to a report of a monitored smoke alarm at 476 Casey Court.
Firefighters arrived and found a working structure fire with heavy smoke coming from a large, multi-story home.

Engine 12 - the first on scene - went to work preparing to attack the fire. Upon arrival, Battalion 11 assumed command and, due to heavy smoke and flames coming from multiple windows on three sides of the structure, requested a second alarm that included more equipment.
Fire crews made an aggressive fire attack brought the fire under control right after 8:00 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire but unfortunately, there were three dogs and a tortoise in the home. At the time, one dog was found deceased. The other animals are still unaccounted for.
There was no damage to neighboring houses. The fire building was structurally stable but suffered significant damage throughout the interior.
There were no civilian or Fire Department injuries.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Benicia Fire Department fire investigation unit.
