"The presence of a loaded firearm, body armor, and an impaired driver with a warrant could have ended very differently," police said.

VALLEJO, CA — A missing license plate on a black Chevrolet Tahoe led to the arrest of an armed man wearing body armor, Vallejo police said Saturday.

The driver was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and was found to be wanted in Orange County on a warrant for DUI there, police said on social media.

Officers stopped the driver after noticing his SUV was missing a front license plate. When officers removed the detained man from his vehicle, they discovered he was wearing body armor under his clothing, police said.
