Police Talk Person Off Bridge In Solano County
The same night, officers also came to the aid of an 80-year-old man with diabetes and dementia who was lost.
BENICIA, CA — Police successfully talked a person off a bridge Friday in Benicia, according to authorities.
Shortly after midnight, officers conducted a welfare check on the person, who was having a mental health crisis and was parked near the center of the Benicia Bridge, police said.
“Our officer was able to persuade the young person from a neighboring city to get in the patrol vehicle and be transported off the bridge to safety,” the Benicia Police Department said Monday in a social media post.

A few hours later, a different officer noticed a person parked in a remote area and conducted a records check, finding the man was an 80-year-old Vallejo resident who suffered from diabetes and mild dementia, and that he was lost, according to police. The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
In both cases, the vehicle of the person in need was brought to a safe area to be picked up.
