Rio Vista Bridge Repairs Require Overnight Lane Closure: Caltrans

One lane of travel will remain open at all times during the bridge repair work on the state Highway 12 Rio Vista Bridge.

SOLANO AND SACRAMENTO COUNTIES, CA — One-way traffic control will be in effect Thursday night on state Highway 12 Rio Vista Bridge as crews do bridge deck repairs, according to Caltrans.

The work is scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, until 6 a.m. Friday, March 4, on the bridge that spans the Sacramento River between Solano and Sacramento counties.

"Crews will repair small holes in the bridge deck called spalls," Caltrans Spokesperson Vince Jacala said. "These spalls develop during normal wear and tear requiring repair work. The bridge remains safe for the motoring public."

The one-way traffic control will be in effect for the safety of workers and the public. Bridge traffic will be reduced to one lane starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, with crews alternating traffic in the westbound and eastbound directions until 6 a.m. Friday or until the work is completed. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

"Flaggers will help direct traffic," Jacala said. "Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time. Work is weather permitting. For boat and ship traffic, the bridge will operate normally for any vessels passing underneath it along the Sacramento River."
