Search Continues For Missing Manteca Fisherman

Daniel Calderon, 25, of Manteca, was fishing with a friend in Solano County near Collinsville when his friend reported he went overboard.

SOLONO COUNTY - The Solano County Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Patrol and other agencies are searching for a boater who went missing late Saturday night.

Daniel Calderon, 25, of Manteca, was fishing with a friend in Solano County south of Collinsville when his friend reported he went overboard around 11 p.m., Solano County Sheriff’s Deputy Christine Castillo said.

Calderon’s friend called the U.S. Coast Guard which contacted the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol, Castillo said.

It was determined Calderon disappeared in Solano County waters in the delta where the Montezuma Slough and Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers meet, Castillo said.

It’s believed Calderon and his friend left from the Oakley Marina, Castillo said. The water was rough and the weather was windy, Castillo said.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday morning, and the Solano County Office of Emergency Services has been searching along the shoreline, Castillo said.

Missing person fliers have been posted at marinas in Oakley and Antioch and at local bait shops, Castillo said.

The incident is still considered a missing persons case but “we’re not ruling anything out,” Castillo said.

Calderon is a white/Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, 6 feet 1 inch and 185 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with black stripes and either shorts or jeans.

Anyone who was on the water south of Collinsville Saturday night and has any information is asked to call the Solano County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 784-7050
