NORTH BAY, CA — Solano County residents are invited to share ideas about the future of State Highway 37, a critical corridor that connects job markets and housing within Marin, Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties.

Caltrans Bay Area is holding a virtual meeting Jan. 25 about the Planning and Environmental Linkages — PEL — Study, which is a collaborative planning effort to address the corridor-wide needs of the roadway.

The 21-mile-long North Bay roadway that stretches from U.S. Highway 101 in Marin County to Interstate Highway 80 in Solano County is subject to congestion and flooding and faces future risks from sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and ecological and multimodal issues.

The PEL Study will evaluate previous plans and reports prepared for SR-37 to identify potential solutions, including potentially new roadway alignments. The study will lay out a vision for the corridor by including different needs, efforts and projects in one overarching document.

At the virtual meeting, Caltrans representatives will share information on the status of the study, its purpose and need, the methods being developed to evaluate potential alignments, and some preliminary alignments.
