Vallejo Army Reserve Soldiers Headed To Kuwait

The 201st will be gone until at least 2018.

VALLEJO, CA – A farewell ceremony is being held for the U.S. Army Reserve soldiers from the 201st Transportation Detachment (Harbor Master), a unit based in Vallejo, Calif., as they prepare to deploy to the Middle East. The ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Mare Island Army Reserve Center located at 1480 Railroad Ave., Bldg. 1298, in Vallejo. Family and friends will gather there for a special sendoff.

The service members will provide logistical support in Kuwait, including harbor master operations and seaport operations at Camp Patriot on the Kuwait Naval Base. The 201st specializes in operating Logistics Support Vessels and Landing Craft Utility, which are large watercrafts used to transport large military vehicles, equipment and troops. The soldiers will depart Vallejo on Sunday, April 23 for Fort Hood, Texas, before deploying to Kuwait for nine months.
