Vallejo Couple Accused In Embezzlement Scheme
The couple is charged in Solano County with grand theft embezzlement involving a home left in trust.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A Vallejo couple was held to answer in Solano County Superior Court Monday for grand theft embezzlement involving a home left in trust that they transferred to themselves, Solano County prosecutors said. A Vallejo estate that included a Vallejo home was left in trust 2006. In 2014, unbeknownst to the theft victim, defendant Juan Cumpian, 62, allegedly transferred the house out of trust and into the name of his wife Dawn Cumpian.
The couple then allegedly sold the Vallejo home and used the proceeds to buy a home in Crescent City. Prosecutors said the couple planned to move to North Carolina with the sale of the Crescent City home when they were arrested.
County prosecutors were granted a preliminary injunction that froze the sale of the Crescent City home, preserved the property during the prosecution of the case and reserved restitution in the event the couple is
convicted.
