Bay FC 'Keeps Battling,' Preps For Home Match
It was a close game for the Bay Area's women's pro soccer team on Monday in Los Angeles. Next up is a match on home turf at PayPal Park.

SAN JOSE, CA — Bay FC’s match against Angel City FC at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles Monday resulted in a 2-1 loss. The team has since reflected on the game in preparation for their home match Saturday against Kansas City Current.
“Our team showed a lot of character again, being down and coming back and tying the game up,” said Albertin Montoya, Bay FC head coach. “I thought we were very good in the first half and created several opportunities. The second half became a bit more of a transitional game.”
“We just keep battling, every single game we’re so close,” he said, adding that the team “continues to believe” in themselves.

At Bay FC’s previous match against Washington Spirit, which took place at Oracle Park in San Francisco, the team also lost by one point, with a final score of 2-3.
“It's been a tough stretch of games for us, but I think within our locker room, we're trying to raise the standard every day of training,” said midfielder Tess Boade.

“I think we had a lot of really close opportunities,” she said about the Angel City FC game.
Boade gave the example of teammate Rachel Hill, who scored Bay FC’s lone goal Monday, “getting on the end of it and finishing it.”
“We just need to have more improvement on that clinical, final third piece,” she said. “We're all aware of it, and I think that it's just about executing now.”
About Saturday’s match against Kansas City Current, Hill said the team will be “ready for it.”
“All of our games have been close, and what a better game to turn it around than against Kansas City,” she said.
“We're ready for the challenge. We have nothing to lose, and we're going to go after it,” she added.
Including the Kansas City Current match, Bay FC has eight games left in the regular season, four of which will be played at PayPal Park.
“We’ve got a lot of games left to go get three points,” Montoya said, referring to the necessary number of points needed to make it into the end-of-season playoffs.
