BERKELEY, CA — Veteran East Bay punk band Green Day are the co-producers of a new film called "New Year's Rev," which made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival Friday.
"New Year's Rev" focuses on a fictional punk group, the Analog Dogs, who are on a mission to meet their heroes: singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool of Green Day.
"[It's] the story of three young punks willing to risk it all to follow their dream," Green Day posted on Instagram.

"Nevertheless, naively optimistic, the young trio set off on the road from Kansas to California, with wide-eyed dreams of being on stage alongside their heroes,” the description continues.
The film is directed by Lee Kirk and features Mason Thames, Fred Armisen, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust and others.
"It's packed with all of your favorite Green Day songs," the band shared. "This film is our love letter to all of our favorite road trip movies, '90s nostalgia, and chasing it all no matter how ridiculous it gets."
