Berkeley City Clerk Opens Passport Office
The Berkeley City Clerk's office is now processing U.S. passport applications. It offers one-stop service, including photos for $10. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., except on the second Friday of each month. Appointments are preferred.

The Berkeley City Clerk's office has joined the growing list of local city governments that process U.S. passport applications.
The service is expected to be especially welcome in Berkeley, where 70 percent of residents hold passports, compared to 30 percent nationally, according to a city news release.
The new Passport Office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., except on the second Friday of each month. Appointments are preferred.
"We also take and process passport photos on-site for $10 a set, making our office a one-stop resource for U.S. passport needs," the city said.
The office is located in the city's main administration building at 2180 Milvia Street. The phone number is 510-981-6911.
More information what to bring to apply for a passport can be found on the city's Passport Office web page, and travel information can be found on the U.S. Department of State website.
