Berkeley Crash Victim ID'd
The pedestrian was killed on Interstate-80 at the beginning of the month.
BERKELEY, CA — A pedestrian who died in a vehicle collision involving a semi-trailer in Berkeley earlier this month was identified by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office as Charles Gerald Nelson, an 82-year-old El Cerrito resident.
The Aug. 1 collision occurred at 3:40 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate Highway 80 near Ashby Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol closed two westbound lanes of the highway as the scene was investigated.

The driver of the semi-trailer stopped at the scene. Intoxication was not believed to be a factor, according to a CHP spokesperson.
The crash remained under investigation as of Friday.
