Berkeley High Student Makes the Finals of America's Got Talent

Kehlani Parrish, a junior at Berkeley High and lead singer of the band Poplyfe, will perform in the finals of America's Got Talent Tuesday.

This week's episode of America's Got Talent revealed the final four contestants, which included Poplyfe — a band headed by Berkeley High's Kehlani Parrish.

Parrish, a 16-year-old junior from Berkeley, auditioned for the show in Seattle back in June along with her six bandmates, all of whom are under 18 years old. Originally, judge Piers Morgan told Parrish that she would have to ditch her band if she wanted to move forward in the competition. "I cannot go without my brothers," Parrish had replied.

Now, the band has a one-in-four chance of winning the show outright, along with a $1 million prize.

Parrish's sweet, soulful voice has wowed judges and audiences alike, garnering a standing ovation after the band's Jackson Five medlée Tuesday night.

"What we're looking for right now is an act that can represent our show and America," said Morgan Tuesday night. "You are a great pop band."
