BERKELEY, CA — Authorities on Friday announced road closures in the Berkeley Hills that aim to reduce fire risk over the July 4 holiday weekend.

The road closures are the result of a “collaborative, multi-jurisdictional effort to deter fire incidents during this extreme fire season,” UC Berkeley Police said.

“Historically, the UC Berkeley parking lots and the emergency turnouts along Grizzly Peak Boulevard have been popular spots to view the San Francisco Bay Area skyline on Independence Day.”
