Berkeley PD Arrests 2nd Suspect In October Shooting

Police have arrested a Union City man as the second suspect in an October shooting that left a victim wounded in Berkeley.

BERKELEY, CA — Detectives have arrested a second man wanted in connection with an October shooting that injured a person at a Berkeley intersection.

The investigation began on Oct. 24, 2024, when multiple 911 callers reported shots fired near Berkeley Way and Henry Street. Investigators said the shooting was captured on surveillance video.

According to police, detectives worked with officers in Union City to execute two search warrants and an arrest warrant last week, leading to the arrest of a 31-year-old man. He was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and other weapons-related offenses.

The Union City arrest comes two months after members of the Special Response Team arrested a 34-year-old Oakland man as the first suspect in the case. He was booked into jail on similar charges.

The Berkeley Police Department thanked the Union City Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service and Oakland Police Department for their assistance in capturing the alleged culprits.
