Berkeley ‘Road Rage’ Shooting Suspect Arrested: Cops

A 32-year-old Tracy woman is accused of firing shots at a vehicle occupied by a 6-year-old child, according to police.

BERKELEY, CA — A Central Valley woman was arrested last month in connection with a road rage shooting earlier this year, Berkeley police said.

The 32-year-old suspect, who is from Tracy, was arrested June 24 and charged three days later with assault with a deadly weapon, willfully discharging a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm with criminal enhancements, among other crimes, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 5:30 p.m. May 16 near the 700 block of Folger Avenue (near Hollis Street), according to police.

No injuries were reported.

The shooting occurred after a road rage incident that began on I-80 near the Ashby Avenue off-ramp, police said.

The suspect fired three rounds into the air and began to leave the area when the victim reported this incident to police and followed the suspect to a dead end of Folger Avenue near Hollis Street, police said.

The suspect then fired two more rounds in the direction of the victim vehicle which was occupied by the victim and their 6-year-old child, police said.

A 9mm handgun was recovered from the suspect’s purse during her arrest, which followed a monthlong Berkeley police investigation, police said.

The suspect admitted to both shootings, police said.
