Berkeley Shooting Probe Triggers Traffic Advisory (Updated)

The shooting occurred in the area of San Pablo and Ashby avenues, police said. The advisory was issued at around 2:15 p.m.

Update: The streets in the impacted area have reopened, the Berkeley Police Department said at around 3:15 p.m.

BERKELEY, CA — A traffic advisory has been issued for parts of South Berkeley amid an investigation into a shooting this afternoon, police said.

"At 1:44 pm, officers responded to the area of San Pablo Avenue and Ashby Avenue on a report of gunfire," the Berkeley Police Department tweeted.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the shooting, police said.

San Pablo Avenue is currently closed between Ashby Avenue and Haskell Street, and Folger Street is closed between Seventh Street and San Pablo Avenue.

Police are advising residents to avoid the area or using an alternate route.

No estimate has been issued for when the advisory will be lifted.
