Cal Football Game Will Close Roads, Restrict Parking Saturday

Parking restrictions will be in effect starting 8 a.m., and roads surrounding California Memorial Stadium will begin closing at 6 p.m.

BERKELEY, CA — The California Golden Bears take on the University of Southern California on Saturday evening, and the Berkeley Police Department will close roads and restrict parking in the area for most of the day.

Though the game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. at California Memorial Stadium, parking enforcement will be in effect from around 8 a.m. to around 11 p.m.

During that time, the following roads will be closed:

  • North bound traffic on Piedmont Avenue at Bancroft Way (at approximately 6 p.m.)
  • East bound traffic on Durant Avenue at College Avenue (at approximately 6 p.m.)
  • North and East bound traffic on Piedmont Avenue at Channing Way (at approximately 6 p.m.)
  • Access to the Panoramic Way and Dwight/Hillside neighborhoods will be limited to residents.

Police are asking motorists to pay attention to the posted tow area signs in the restricted areas, and said vehicles will be towed to a temporary lot located at Fulton Street and Bancroft Way (west of Edwards Stadium).

"Please note, there is no 2-hour parking in the listed Residential Parking Permit zones without a resident permit on game days," police said. "We expect a large number of people to attend the game this Saturday. Please consider taking public transportation."
