At the scene, officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect’s vehicle from witnesses and broadcast this information for other police personnel in the area. A few minutes later, an alert Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) spotted the suspect’s vehicle driving on University Avenue. The PEO followed the suspect’s vehicle until it parked in the off-street lot of a hotel on the 1700 block of University Avenue and reported this to officers in the area.

Although the driver had already left the vehicle when officers arrived, officers were able to track down the suspect after reviewing the hotel’s video surveillance. Officers found the suspect hiding in one of the hotel rooms and arrested him without incident.
