Coincidence? Robert Reich Film & 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'

Our guess is this is just a coincidence, but UC Berkeley's top two picks for things to do Saturday, Sept. 27, are the Robert Reich documentary on income inequality and the famous sci-fi horror tale, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

The "Critic's Choice" section of the UC Berkeley homepage has two recommendations for what to do on Saturday, both of which are films.

  • Prof. Robert Reich's Inequality for All, a documentary by the public policy professor and former White House advisor about the growing disparity between the rich and the rest of America
We wonder if the juxtaposition of a film about American workers having their income snatched by the corporate elite with a film about ordinary Americans having their bodies snatched by aliens is a coincidence.

The Reich film, Inequality for All, shows at the California Theater at 2113 Kittredge St. in Berkeley. See the theater website for details.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers is being screened outdoors for free on the Crescent Lawn at the main west entrance to campus at Oxford and Center streets. The program begins with "shorts and other surprises" at 7:30 p.m; followed by the feature film at 8, according the campus calendar.
