Officers Writing Tickets In Major Berkeley Traffic Enforcement: Police

The CHP and other police departments are assisting in the operation.

BERKELEY, CA — The Berkeley Police Department is conducting a focused traffic enforcement in the City of Berkeley right now. The California Highway Patrol and other Alameda County law enforcement agencies are assisting in the operation.

Officers are focusing on areas where numerous crashes and traffic violations have occurred, as well as distracted driving and other public safety related traffic violations.

The crackdown comes just one day before a DUI Checkpoint is planned in Berkeley.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
