Robbery Attempted in Berkeley Friday Morning, Suspect at Large

The suspect fled the scene.

BERKELEY, CA — A strong-arm robbery was attempted Friday morning in downtown Berkeley, University of California police said.

At approximately 6:25 a.m., a thin, medium-complexion black man in his mid-20s attempted to take the property of a 58-year-old man in front of 2190 Shattuck Ave. The suspect was reportedly wearing a blue or gray shirt.

The suspect did not succeed and fled the scene. The victim was not injured. University of California police and Berkeley police checked the area but did not locate the suspect.
