The Dreambox: Vending Machine for Automated 3D Printing from UC Students

Print your own cups, customized shot glasses, even parts for a drone plane ... courtesy of "Dolly."

There's a new vending machine in town, one you want to meet if you'd like to print your own cups, shot glasses and other useful items or decorative oddities.

The Dreambox, a fully automated 3D printer vending machine dubbed "Dolly" by its creators, was built by student entrepreneurs at UC Berkeley, according to an article on KQED's Quest science and technology blog.

The printer, housed on campus in Etcheverry Hall, 2521 Hearst Ave., can produce thousands of different colorful plastic items: dog tags, model cars, parts for a drone plane, a miniature of the Campanile. The prices range from $3 to $15.
