Amber Heard: I Didn't File Police Report to Protect Johnny Depp's Career

Heard filed for the divorce and got a restraining order against Depp last week. Lily-Rose Depp's coming to her dad's defense on social media

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - Amber Heard, who was awarded a restraining order from husband Johnny Depp on Friday, initially declined to give police a statement to protect the actor's career, her attorneys said Tuesday.

Heard, 30, filed for divorce from Depp, 52, last week after 15 months of marriage.

In a statement released to the media, attorneys Samantha Spector and Joseph Koenig insisted that Heard suffered "years of physical and psychological abuse" by Depp.

Police responded to a report of an altercation at the couple's home on May 21, but "the officers determined that a crime did not occur," LAPD Officer Drake Madison said last week. Heard apparently declined to the give the officers a statement when they responded.

That decision was made "in an attempt to protect her privacy and Johnny's career," according to Spector and Koenig.

"Johnny's team has forced Amber to give a statement to the LAPD to set the record straight as the true facts, as she cannot continue to leave herself open to the vicious false and malicious allegations that have infected the media," according to the statement. "Amber can no longer endure the relentless attacks and outright lies launched against her character in the Court of Public Opinion since the tragic events of May 21st."

Depp was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Heard, her home, work and car.

Depp's daughter Lily-Rose, is weighing in on the allegations on social media, posting a photo of Depp and her as baby on Instagram.

"My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know, he's been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same," she wrote in the post.

Depp's attorney, Laura Wasser, declined to comment.

A representative for the actor told E! News last week: "Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly."

The restraining order is good until June 17, when the judge is scheduled to decide whether to extend it.

Depp and Heard met on the set of "The Rum Diary" and were married in February 2015. It's Depp's second marriage.
