Beverly Hills Launches Month-Long Pride Celebration

Beverly Hills hosted its inaugural "Beverly Hills Pride Night," an evening full of performances at the Wallis.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The city of Beverly Hills kicked off a month of activities Thursday to celebrate Pride Month.

On Thursday, the city hosted a "Beverly Hills Pride Night," a massive event at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts featuring performers like: San Cha, Bri Giger, Theytee, Jeshua, Miss Barbie Q, Zee Machine and Polartropica.

On Wednesday the city lit up the palm trees in front of City Hall with rainbow lights and projected the pride flag on the building. The lights will remain until June 12.

On Wednesday, Greystone Mansion will host a special feature from SORORITY, a Los Angeles-based hub for women, trans and queer performers created by writer and director Gina Young. The evening will celebrate "the rich history of Beverly Hills and 1920s art salons," according to the city.

The SORORITY Salon will feature dancers, a guitarist, a DJ and more. The event will be followed by a free afterparty in West Hollywood, according to the city of West Hollywood. For more information on the evening, visit the city of Beverly Hills' website.

“The City of Beverly Hills has been home to many important LGBTQIA+ citizens since the City’s early days including prominent artists, celebrities, activists, authors, choreographers, composers, actors and allies,” Director of Community Services Jenny Rogers said in a news release. “I am excited that Beverly Hills will be celebrating these incredible individuals who helped define arts, culture and creative industries that make Beverly Hills a world-class destination.”
