Beverly Hills Police Release September DUI Checkpoint Results
The Beverly Hills Police Department recently screened some 75 drivers at a DUI checkpoint on Santa Monica Boulevard, a hotspot for DUIs.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The Beverly Hills Police Department made no citations or arrests during a DUI checkpoint that stopped 75 drivers on Sept. 9.
The regular DUI checkpoint was set up at the intersection of North Santa Monica Boulevard and Crescent drive from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Police stopped 75 drivers to screen for DUIs but made no arrests and issued no citations, according to public information officer Giovanni Trejo.
The checkpoint location was chosen based on traffic data indicating the intersection is a DUI hotspot. The number of previous arrests and collisions is considered alongside the flow of traffic and the ability for a street to accommodate a checkpoint, Trejo said.

"Historically, Santa Monica Blvd has had one of the highest numbers of DUI-related incidents in the City; about 30 have been recorded since early 2019," Trejo said.
Records also indicate Wilshire Boulevard is a hotspot for DUIs in the city, especially where it meets Santa Monica Boulevard.
