Beverly Hills Restaurant Named Among Best New LA Eateries Of 2023

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Funke, the Beverly Hills pasta restaurant that opened in May, has been named the second-best new restaurant in Los Angeles of 2023 by Time Out.

The restaurant is chef Evan Funke's third; he's also behind LA hotspots Felix in Venice and Mother Wolf in Hollywood. And he previously worked at Spago.

In its annual list of the best new restaurants in LA, Time Out placed Funke at No. 2. The publication remarked that Funke stood out among its sister restaurants with "the best mix of consistency, menu selection and overall wow factor."

"His eponymous crown jewel in Beverly Hills still fires on all cylinders with excellent cuisine, five-star service and Shannon Swindle’s show-stopping pastry program, including the phenomenal seasonal fruit meringata," Time Out wrote.

The menu includes some classic Italian dishes that Funke is known for — tagliatelle Bolognese, cacio e pepe and all’amatriciana — as well as new ones, including a whole forno, or oven-baked, section of the menu. Among those dishes is cipollina, a savory puff pastry stuffed with onions, provolone and tomato, according to Eater.
