Campus Security Officer Saves Choking Student at El Rodeo
Jerardo Usquiano will be honored by the Beverly Hills Unified School District's Board of Education tonight.

From a press release:
Jerardo Usquiano, a former Los Angeles Police Department officer, will be honored tonight by the Beverly Hills Unified School District’s Board of Education for his heroism in saving the life of a choking fourth-grader at El Rodeo Elementary School .
Usquiano now serves as a campus security officer for BHUSD, and has served in the role since the inception of this unique partnership with Evidence Based Inc. that puts former police officers on school campuses.

On Sept. 11, a 10-year-old girl was choking on a carrot. She motioned for help and Usquiano’s training and instincts took over. He performed the Heimlich maneuver, and saved the girl’s life.
