BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Commuters be warned: Work has begun on a yearlong project to replace a pipeline on Coldwater Canyon Drive.

The work began recently and will continue through early 2024, taking place weekdays between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. (work will pause on holidays), according to the city.

The canyon road is a popular route for people traveling to and from the Valley — especially during rush hour. The city is urging motorists to use alternate routes. Options include Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Benedict Canyon Drive, Beverly Glen Boulevard and — sorry — the 405 Freeway.

Coldwater Canyon Drive from Monte Cielo Drive to Rexford Drive, just south of Coldwater Canyon Park, will have only one lane open in each direction. In certain locations, both directions of travel will share a single lane.

Crews are working to replace pipelines installed between the 1920s-60s, which have broken several times in recent years, according to the city.
