DUI/Driver License Checkpoint Coming Up In Beverly Hills
From Aug. 16 to Sept. 2, BHPD will have additional officers on the road looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The Beverly Hills Police Department is holding a DUI/Driver's License checkpoint on Friday, August 16, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. at an undisclosed location within city limits.
BHPD is joining law enforcement agencies across the country in the national enforcement campaign, "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," from Aug. 16 to Labor Day, Sept. 2. During this period, BHPD will have additional officers on the road looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, the BHPD press release said.
"As summer comes to a close, the Beverly Hills Police Department is asking drivers to not
get behind the wheel after drinking or using drugs that impact one’s ability to drive safely," BHPD officials said.

Labor Day Weekend remains one of the deadliest times of year for alcohol-involved crashes, police said. There were 376 deadly crashes nationwide during the 2017 Labor Day holiday period (Sept. 1 to Sept. 5), according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration — 36 percent of those crashes involved a drunk driver. Last year, two people were killed and 31 were injured in California on Labor Day alone.
“There is no excuse for driving impaired when there are so many alternatives available – public transportation, ride share services and designated sober drivers,” Beverly Hills Police Chief Sandra Spagnoli said. “Driving while drunk or high is not worth the risk to yourself, your passengers and everyone else on the road.”
