'Mad Max' Beats Out 'Star Wars,' 'Hunger Games' at Costume Designers Guild Awards
'Beasts of No Nation' and 'The Danish Girl' also won in the film category at the 18th annual awards gala in Beverly Hills.

Costume designers for “Mad Max: Fury Road,”’ “Beasts of No Nation” and “The Danish Girl” were the film winners at Tuesday night’s 18th Costume Designers Guild Awards.
Jenny Beavan, the costume designer for “Mad Max: Fury Road,” won in the fantasy film category, beating a field that also included the costume designers for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Cinderella,” “Ex Machina” and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2.”
Jenny Eagan of “Beasts of No Nation” won in the contemporary film category. The costume designers for “Joy,” “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” “The Martian” and “Youth” were the other nominees in the category.

Paco Delgado of “The Danish Girl,” won in the period film category, where the other nominees were the costume designers for “Brooklyn,” “Carol,” “Crimson Peak” and “Trumbo.”
The awards were presented at The Beverly Hilton.

During the show, actress Cate Blanchett received the guild’s LaCoste Spotlight Award, honoring a performer for a commitment to excellence and awareness of the role and importance of costume design.
